Tuesday 29 to Friday 2 October, 10.30am – 5.00pm

The 4-day course is presented by Susie Davies-Splitter (M.Ed.) who is a qualified music and movement educator, accredited Orff trainer, musician and award-winning composer. Susie and husband Phil run their own successful music education business, ‘Welcome to Music’, providing resources for Early Childhood and Primary teachers. They also present music programs for preschoolers, Artist in School programs, concerts and teacher training around the world.

Participants will:

  • learn how to teach and create a music and movement program, with sample lesson plans for two terms
  • understand the research and benefits of music and movement
  • learn how to use transition songs between activities
  • explore new ways to enhance learning across the curriculum (EYLF, NQS and the Australian curriculum – the Arts)
  • explore hands on and practical activities that focus on creativity
  • develop classroom management strategies
  • learn how to drum and play the ukulele and recorder
  • develop ‘Orff Schulwerk’ principles that will inspire, excite and motivate children to remember, understand and love music

The assessment is a peer teaching task where one participant will lead others in the course through an example of how to deliver a lesson using the pedagogy, ideas and repertoire covered in the course.

Online assessment tasks are included in each session of the course. Course is delivered “face to face” via zoom.
