The Dance Educators Professional Association NSW will present ‘Compose Yourself!’, a two day conference focusing on teaching Composition in Dance.
The purpose of the conference is to deconstruct the Composition Areas of Study content relevant to the Stages 4, 5 and 6 NSW Dance Syllabus. Participants will engage in both theoretical and experiential sessions presented by a range of experienced specialist Dance educators from various school contexts.
The programme will include the following:
– Panel Q and A with Dance teaching experts
– The role of the Teacher in Composition
– Unpacking Compositional Terminology through Analysis
– Generating Movement into Motif/s
– Manipulating the Elements of Dance with purpose
– Organising the Dance
– Engaging all students in Composition
– Conveying the meaning in Dance.
