Is Spelling an area that you grapple with?

Do you wonder about the best way to help your students learn about spelling?

Do you worry about the students who have difficulty remembering the spelling of individual words?

Do you wonder where phonics fits?

Our students deserve instruction that reflects how the English writing system actually works. They also deserve to build understanding about spelling rather than just rely on rote learning of words.

During these two online sessions, Julie will examine how we can use inquiry to learn about the English writing system. We will examine the aspects of orthography: morphology, etymology and phonology and the interrelationship of these elements.

As well as build understanding about English spelling, Julie will show how to introduce and implement this in your classrooms. She will also direct participants to a range of wonderful resources.

This is an online course. Meeting link will be sent to you upon registration.

THIS COURSE IS FREE FOR ALEA MEMBERS (individual and institutional). $40 for non-members ($20 each 1 hour session).
