Teaching writing for secondary students: Expressing ideas through language mode (PART 2)

This workshop is facilitated by Professor Georgina Barton from The University of Southern Queensland. It is the second of a two-part series and is suitable for all secondary teachers.

This teaching of writing session will focus on how students can use all of the modes to make meaning through composing texts. First, we will explore a range of multimodal texts across the curriculum and analyse the use of modes. We will discuss the development of meta-language in relation to the modes. Second, we will consider a range of assessment items for composing multimodal texts and share some ideas with each other

Learning objectives for Session 2:

  • Discuss all the modes of meaning including gesture, image, sound and space
  • Explore a range of multimodal texts and comprehend their structure and use of modes
  • Share some potential assessment items for composing multimodal texts

This is an online course. Meeting link will be sent to you upon registration
