Specialist Area: Assessment, Cognitive Process/ Learning Processes, Content Knowledge, Planning and Preparation, Writing

For both new and experienced teachers. The day features a range of presenters from the Society and Culture Association, and Megan Perry from the NSW State Library. The course intends to expose teachers to a range of teaching and learning strategies to enhance student engagement in the Preliminary Society and Culture course. The day will target the following aspects of the Preliminary course:

  • strategies to increase engagement
  • developing student understanding and application of key concepts
  • building student capacity in creative and critical writing
  • using simulation games to enhance student understanding
  • effective use of research methods within the Preliminary course
  • continuum of assessment practice
