Teaching mathematics to a diverse group of students can be difficult. In this session, we will discuss three essential components of effective mathematics instruction. First, we will focus on the language of mathematics and how students need opportunities to learn formal and precise mathematics language. Then, we will highlight the importance of using multiple representations. Students need to see and use mathematics in different ways. Finally, we will review how to model and practice mathematics with a focus on language and multiple representations.
