Addressing the link between English & Drama, and specifically play building in response to quality picture books

In this workshop teachers will explore ways in which to tie students personal experience to quality picture books. This workshop will deconstruct a unit of work titled ‘Nightmares and Dreamscapes’ and it will include looking at the picture book ‘The Ghost of Annabel Spoon’. By deconstructing a unit of work, and examining the way drama forms and drama elements are shaped within a unit, teachers will take away knowledge of drama pedagogy and its benefits to the learning of their students. By embedding this unit within a process drama approach to the creation of original work, teachers will be able to increase their knowledge of embodied learning, and its ability to access all stages of learners.

This workshop will be practically based, and all participants will leave with a bundle of teaching strategies to adapt and use across all units of work in Drama, and other KLAs.
