2019 Two-day Annual Conference: The Place of Geography

Reflecting on the PAST, assessing the PRESENT and shaping the FUTURE

Monday 1 & Tuesday 2 April at the ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park

The conference will include:

Workshops and presentations*
(80-minute workshops, 50-minute presentations)

  • Classroom practice: Content, skills, assessment and pedagogy for stages 4 & 5
  • Learning across the curriculum including ATSI, sustainability, numeracy and ICT capability, including GIS and drone technologies
  • Stage 6 HSC marking practices and skills (Preference given to rural teachers)

* Some of the most popular presentations from 2018 will be repeated

Full day immersion courses

For the first time spend one day developing an area of expertise:

  • Drones in Geography (TAFE)
  • ESRI GIS in Schools program
  • Fieldwork with Sydney Water OR Sydney Olympic Park
  • Contour Education – ICT capabilities and spatial tools including AR and VR and GIS

Special Twilight Event: GEOGRAPHY FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS

Monday 1 April from 4.30 – 6.30pm

Focus on Skills, tools and fieldwork and integrating literacy and numeracy into Geography lessons.

Registration: $40, afternoon tea provided

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
Six hours of professional learning commencing at 8.30am until 4.00pm both conference days.  Register for ONE or BOTH days

Evening social event – Monday evening 5.30 – 7.00pm

CONFERENCE COSTS 

Members – $290 one-day or $530 two-day
Non-members – $350 one-day or $650 two-day
Pre-service teachers $100 per day
