Literacy in Geography
As part of the Geography Webinar Program Literacy in Geography will be held on Wednesday, 29 August, 4.00am – 5.00pm.
This webinar will focus on writing and responding in Geography. Geography utilises a wide range of literacy texts that assists students in building understanding their world. Students express their understanding by using geographic vocabulary. Avenues for geographic writing will be explored along with revision activities.
About the presenter
The webinar will be presented by David Proctor, an experienced high school geography teacher. He has been a HSIE teacher at Menai High School for the last eight years with a focus on Geography teaching across the junior and senior areas as well as the elective Geography classes. He has a degree from the University of Wollongong and has been involved in teacher professional development in areas of literacy and numeracy. David has a focus on building understanding across KLAs and a strong emphasis on the sharing and collaboration with teachers to build professional and collegial practices.
