• Storytelling, Adaptation and Children’s Theatre with Shake & Stir Theatre Company

Come and spend the day with award-winning theatre company for young people, shake & stir, as we dive head first into the wonderful world of Roald Dahl. Lead by the team who created the national touring production of Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine, you’ll explore the adaptation process for contemporary Children’s Theatre and how to enhance the use of storytelling in this style.

Using script excerpts from shake & stir’s stage adaptations of Roald Dahl’s wacky tales, the workshop expands on the key conventions of the style and provides resources and examples of practice- based embodied learning, doing what we drama teachers do best – embracing the silly.

Included in the Professional Learning day is a ticket to the matinee performance of George’s Marvellous Medicine, allowing you an opportunity to chat with cast and creative team members, before unpacking the conventions further after the show – solidifying the genre and process – because who says teachers can’t get up to marvellous mischief as well!
