Not just about Numbers: Mastering Numeracy

Learning and Support teachers have an integral role in maximising the opportunities for all students to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. In this day long course the focus will be on Numeracy. The course will look as strategies to enhance numeracy skills across the curriculum and in the Mathematics classroom.

The sessions will:

• look at Effective strategies for the teaching of Numeracy
• the role of the LaST is the Mathematics classroom.
• literacy skills that enhance learning in the area of Numeracy particularly Effective Vocabulary Instruction
• give all participants a chance to share with their colleagues the strategies they have found to be effective
• resources that enhance learning will also be showcased.
