Helping low motivated students
With Dr Dana Perlman, University of Wollongong

In our first Masterclass for 2022, Dr Dana Perlman discusses his research into understanding and assisting low motivated students in physical education.

Dr Perlman’s study examined how different forms of teacher instruction, based within Self Determination Theory, can influence amotivated students’ motivational responses within secondary physical education. Read the article.

Dr Perlman is a Senior Lecturer and education researcher, with expertise in secondary education and pedagogy spanning over 15 years. He has taught and conducted research in the United States, before joining the School of Education at the University of Wollongong in 2010.

Dana has co-authored more than 70 research articles, and is an active member of The Pedagogical Laboratory for Education. Whilst Dana studies across a range of teaching and learning settings, his work is primarily grounded in the Self-Determination Theory of motivation and human behaviour.
