There will be two x 1-hour sessions. The first on Tuesday 27 October and the second on Tuesday 3 November. Both sessions commence at 6pm and run for an hour. Participants are required to attend both sessions

Following last year’s popular course for HSC and IB composition students, ANCA is proud to present two workshops over Zoom for composers looking to write for choirs. We will explore what you will need to know when writing for voices, including where to start, what the markers are looking for and different styles of choral works. The workshops will be run by an experienced team of professional composers, musicians and educators consisting of Ruth McCall (Gondwana), Michael Bradshaw (Conservatorium High School), and Amber Johnson (Newtown Performing Arts).

While the event is designed for students, it is also open to all educators who wish to gain ideas for how to approach the teaching of choral composition in the HSC/IB context.

As well as plenty of time for questions student will also be provided with a suggested listening list, including works from contemporary Australian composers. We hope to see you there!

“The presenters we have participants engage in a number of activities that promote the creation of new compositional ideas. Throughout the online session, participants will share some of their work online and receive immediate feedback and suggestions. This in turn will link to group discussion regarding the teaching strategies utilised in each generative task.”
