MISSION STATEMENT

PASTA exists to serve the needs and to represent its members, by:

  • Promoting and Representing S.R.C. Teacher Advisers at School, Region, State and National levels
  • Providing the opportunities for Student Advisers to develop their expertise in promoting Student Leadership, Participation and Representation
  • Promoting Student Leadership
  • Promoting Student Participation
  • Promoting Student Representation
 

INCORPORATION INFORMATION

PASTA was incorporated on 8 August, 1995 under the Associations Incorporation Act 1894 by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Copies of its Certificate of available on request.

AFFILIATIONS

PASTA is affiliated with:

  • The Professional Teachers Council - NSW
  • CONNECT, Australia's student participation magazine (since 1979)
  • The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP in the USA) through its Department of Student Activities
  • The Canadian Association of Student Activity Advisors (CASSA)

  • Catholic and independent schools
  • Federation of Parents & Citizens Associations of NSW

MEMBERSHIP DETAILS

  • Membership is open to anyone with an interest in our mission and aims or projects
    (go to How To Join?)
  • The majority of members are teacher advisers, schools or school SRCs as institutional members. Membership includes a student membership category
  • Many student members are amongst the most active, with one ex-student on Executive and others in positions of responsibility re. various projects (eg ISRC 2000)
  • Members currently come from New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, the ACT and overseas
  • There is a PASTA branch in Victoria and active moves towards one in Tasmania
  • PASTA's contact list includes c. 1000 individuals, schools, government departments and organisations

We work through member schools, SRCs and advisers. Please join us to help make student councils in our schools effective and the role of advisers valued.
