Media Award 2008

The Professional Teachers’ Council NSW Media Awards are presented annually to those working in the media industry for their positive portrayal of the work of teachers and schools and their recognition of the value to the community of teaching as a profession.

All PTC NSW 2008 Award recipients were acknowledged on World Teachers’ Day 2008 through a PTC NSW Media Release.

The 2008 Awards were presented  by the Hon Verith Firth MP, Minister for Education and Training at the PTC Annual Presentation Evening on Tuesday 16 December 2008.

The Board of the PTC NSW and the PTC Awards Committee congratulate the 2008 recipients of a Professional Teachers’ Council NSW 2008 Media Award.

The Media Award for 2008 was awarded to Dr Michael Nagel for his positive portrayal of the teaching profession in his article Teaching the Teachers presented in the March 2008 edition of Sydney’s Child.

The closing paragraph is particularly noteworthy when he states: “Each day we seem to learn a little bit more about great teachers. But one of the fundamental messages that teacher educators attempt to burn into the psyche of aspiring teachers is that great teachers have students who are happy and engaged in learning so that the best can be brought out in each and every one of them.”
