Exceptional Service Awards

The Professional Teachers’ Council NSW Exceptional Service Awards are presented for exceptional service over a significant period of time to the Professional Teachers’ Council NSW member professional associations and education in NSW.

The 2008 Awards were presented at the PTC NSW Annual Presentation Evening on Tuesday 16 December 2008. Awards were presented by the guest of honour, the Hon Verity Firth MP, NSW Minister for Education and Training.

PTC NSW would like to congratulate the following award recipients:


Dr Brian Croke, Catholic Education Commission and NSW Board of Studies
Dr. Brian Croke is a highly regarded member of the NSW teaching profession. His intelligent leadership is highly valued and respected by NSW teachers. He has influenced and contributed to the development of quality curriculum and professional support for teachers in NSW.

Dr Bruce Mowbray
Dr. Bruce Mowbray has made an outstanding contribution to education in New South Wales. He has a keen interest in the teaching of Mathematics, issues of teacher education and professional teaching standards. Bruce has been instrumental in supporting teachers at the beginning of their teaching career in NSW. He has influenced many policy areas that impact on teacher development for the benefit of teachers and students.

Ms Margaret Pickup, Australian Council of Health, Physical Education and Recreation Inc (NSW)
Margaret Pickup has made an outstanding contribution to education and the teaching profession through her work as a teacher in New South Wales secondary schools, as lecturer in the university sector, and also through her voluntary work and involvement in the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (NSW) Association, and the Professional Teachers’ Council (NSW). During her time as a member of the PTC (NSW) Board Meg held the positions of Director, Chair of Sub-Committees and Executive Committee Member. Meg currently holds the position of President of ACHPER (NSW).

Outstanding Professional Service Awards

The Professional Teachers’ Council Outstanding Professional Service are presented to association committee members in recognition of their voluntary service over a significant period to professional teachers’ associations and education in NSW.

The 2008 Awards were presented at the PTC NSW Annual Presentation Evening on Tuesday 16 December 2008.

The Awards were presented by the Hon Verity Firth MP, NSW Minister for Education and Training.
